Official ITA Rules
National Tri-Athlete Games

The Iron Team America tournament series is designed to find the best overall sports team. We are looking for the team that plays with smarts, stamina, athletic ability, team work, talent and is just down right good. We don’t care if you are the world champions in your sport. Can you compete in 3 major sports over 3 days playing 3 games in each sport? Is your team good enough to become Iron Team America Champions?

Tournament Structure

Each team is placed in a four team pool/group. Each team plays one game against the other 3 teams in the pool for a total of 3 games in each sport. Starting with 5 on 5 basketball on Friday night, Slow Pitch Softball on Saturday and 7-man Screen Flag Football on Sunday.

The teams are randomly selected into each pool, by having a team representative pull a pool ID out of a container. Each pool will be represented by a color (i.e. blue, red, green etc.). Each team will be represented by a color and a number (i.e. red 1, blue 2, green 3 etc.). After each sport the teams will be rotated to face other teams from the other pools. Teams will not face the same teams for each sport.

Teams

Each team can consist of a minimum of 10 players and a maximum of 12 players. Players can NOT be added or substituted once the first game has been played. Your roster is set for each sport during the entire tournament. A player is not required to be at the tournament each day, however, he CAN NOT be substituted under ANY circumstances.

Point Structure

Points are earned by how well you do against your pool in each sport. The higher you finish in pool play the more points you receive. A team receives bonus points for defeating a team by a set point margin. A team will be deducted points if they are defeated by a set point margin. Each event’s points are weighted the same, so you have to be able to play well across the board to come home an Iron Team America Champion.
